Who is excited for Portal 2’s release? You could say I’m losing sleep over it, but let’s be honest, I lose sleep no matter what. The game looks like it will be awesome. So I thought it would be a perfect time for me to play some Portal to get a refresher of the mechanics and simply enjoy the game.

Insomniac with The Narrator: New Super Mario Bros. Wii

If you haven’t heard, I got a problem with sleeping in that I don’t do it. Seriously, you know how much sweet, sweet night time hours you people are wasting “resting peacefully.” Anyways, I can’t sleep so tonight, forget it, PS3… It’s Wii Town tonight. I’m popping in New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

First off, I like names that explain things. It is the NEW Super Mario game so of course they have to include NEW in the title. Unfortunately, games can’t be new forever, so I’m not sure how that name will age. Secondly, the title ends in Wii because it is for the Wii. Now the game is idiot proof. I’m sure that Dusky Panther was super excited to play this on his Sega Saturn. Well he will just have to deal with it. This game is for the Wii (it’s in the title).

Insomniac with The Narrator: Spartacus

The Narrator again on the brink of another sleepless night, so I pull up the instant Netflix to watch a show my dad recommended to me. I was skeptical to say the least.

I mean my dad thinks Two and a Half Men is funny. So his pull to suggest anything I want to watch is horribly limited. Regardless, I start up Spartacus: Blood and Sand and watch the first season (Full disclosure: this took me a three nights to watch completely).

Insomniac with The Narrator: Rock Band 3

Are you ready to ROCK?! No? Are you at least ready to read about ROCKING?! No? Are you capable of clicking on this link and be somewhat entertained by what I do while Thisismynightmare dreams about Ryan Gosling?

Whatever your reason, you have just entered the musical late night escapades of The Narrator. It is kind of my guilty pleasure, but I love rhythm games. I mean, it is just a little bit embarrassing to be a “grown man” and run around your house at night with a plastic guitar strapped to your chest. However, I fancy myself pretty good at the rhythm games and get a lot of pleasure from fake rocking out.

Who has two thumbs and an unhealthy sleep schedule, this guy! It’s 5:30 AM and Thisismynightmare has just left for work. I’m still here as awake as ever. For those of you who missed my first post. This is “Insomniac with The Narrator.” I have (self-diagnosed) onset insomnia …… for the most part I can fight to go to sleep, so it doesn’t really affect me in my day to day operations. However, on weekends or when I have nothing to do the next day, I don’t bother fighting and just let it take me on crazy late night adventures.



OK, you got me. Adventures are a little bit of an overstatement. I watch TV, play video games and surf the internet. However, that’s not what I am bringing to you this day. One of my new favorite things to do, now that I’m a Monster, is to play on Photoshop. I especially like to Photoshop other monsters in what I consider funny situations. I mean most ordinary things become funny once you stick a friend’s avatar in it, or at least it is funny to me. So tonight I pulled out some of what I consider my “greatest hits” in picture creation and I also made some new ones just for this post. Two of these pictures were inspired by the riveting first season of everyone’s favorite MOBFD post “Gums of Our Lives.”

Insomniac with The Narrator

Let me begin this by saying there are a few things you need to know about me to understand this post. Much like my name sake I have trouble sleeping. I am a (self-diagnosed) insomniac. To be more specific, I have onset insomnia and if you didn’t guess by the name it means that I have trouble falling to sleep. I know what you’re thinking, get more exercise and chew some valerian root. Well, Edward Norton didn’t take that advice and neither will I.



After putting Thisismynightmare and Thisismydoggy to sleep, The Dogrator and I return to the living room to see what adventures we can have while the rest of the monster community is lying in bed dreaming of Topher Grace. Generally speaking, I spend a lot of time watching bad movies on instant Netflix, playing videogames and searching the internet. The thing about having insomnia is that the time you spend is hardly productive. My mind isn’t very sharp so trying to finish the Master’s thesis that I’ve been working on isn’t really going to happen.



So if you will come on this adventure with me, this is a night in the life of The Narrator.
