Unfortunately I can't chat as much as I once did, so I decided to post this question here:
What are your guilty pleasures?
We all have stuff we like but don't admit to liking. This includes things you like "ironically" since you would not defend them against certain people. For example I loved the first Twilight and I am not ashamed to admit it in this post, but if I was out with my drinking buddies I would claim ignorance.
Here's mine:
- Movies: Twilight, Confessions of a Shopaholic, 13 Going on 30, Cool as Ice, Space Cowboys
- Music: Uffie, Len, Benni Bennasi, Crazy Town, Slipknot
- TV Shows: Friends, King of Queens, Being Eve
In no particular order:
ReplyDelete-masturbating
-gossip magazines
-gumballs
-Conor Oberst music
-schadenfreude
-House Hunters
Movies: Drive Me Crazy, 13 Going on 30 (although that movie is awesome and doesn't make me feel guilty at all), Hello Again, Innerspace
ReplyDeleteMusic: all of my music is a guilty pleasure, I can't admit to any of it. Think of something you hate: I like it.
TV shows: Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond, Snapped, you know what...all of them.
Oh, and Troop Beverly Hills! And The Wizard! You know what, all the crappy movies too. I am a walking guilty pleasure.
ReplyDeleteI openly admit to loving romantic comedies and cooking shows and I feel not even an ounce of guilt in saying so.
ReplyDeleteMy deepest hipster-shame is that I still love some of the sappy soft rock that was popular when I was in college. Matchbox 20, anyone? *sob*
Also, BF, Troop Beverly Hills is NOT a guilty pleasure!! Are you kidding me? That's classic cinema. What goes better with Hobos than wine?
I am so with Kel on this one Troop Beverly Hills is a fantastic movie. My idea of camping is still staying in a fancy hotel with room service just like Shelley Long taught me.
ReplyDeleteMy guilty pleasures:
-30 Seconds to Mars (as you will see in my next post)
-Any House Hunting TV Show (House Hunters, Property Virgins, My First Place)
-Romance Novels (Anything with Werewolves or Vampires. LJ Smith's Vampire Diaries were my favorite books when I was 13.)
I have a love/hate relationship with the first Twilight movie but I've seen it so many times at this point and it never gets old.
ReplyDeleteAlso:
- nearly any Hugh Grant movie.. really anything British.
- nearly any mystery medical or crime tv show
- Game shows and/or shows where people get hurt. (Lingo, Wheel of Fortune, Wipeout, AMFV, etc..)
- Meg Ryan/Sandra Bullock chick flicks.
- The Neverending Story/Labyrinth/Kindergarten Cop and any other movie from my childhood
- the southern vampire books (is that what they were called?)
-
Movies: Baby Mama, Harold & Kumar, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
ReplyDelete(Also, Chris I love that you include 13 Going on 30. I love that movie)
TV Shows: Gossip Girl, Greek
Music: 90's R&B & hip hop like Fugees & TLC & Aaliyah (Though this doesnt really make me feel guilty)
Books: I read a fair share of romance novels.
Things I would never admit to my hipster friends, but shit my family members would also like: Millionaire Matchmaker, Greek, Entourage, Oprah, Paramore and other emo-pop bands, Rihanna, recent national Lampoon and American Pie movies, bad tattoos, energy drinks and of course, behaving like an asshole. At least I know when I am.
ReplyDelete* Movies: THE A TEAM (very enjoyable), Innerspace (the best movie ever)
ReplyDelete* Music: A day to remember, Bring me the Horizon, bruno mars,
* TV Shows: Dexter is so shitty, but I've scene every episode.
Fashion Magazines and blogs. I am not fashionable, and I think I am fancy when my clothing comes from not-target. But still, I love me some haute couture.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love SWINTON more than is probably healthy, but I feel no shame in that.
I'm with LBT - fashion mags and blogs. Also, Just Jared. Celebrity gossip, how does it work? Ask me, I know.
ReplyDeleteOthers for which I should feel guilty but don't BUT wouldn't admit to on a first date:
Macy's shoe sale
Smoked oysters
Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan movies AND their soundtracks
Drew Barrymore movies AND their soundtracks
Deal with it shades.
"The Freshman" by Verve Pipe
ReplyDeleteI am pretty much proud and vocal about all the other stuff I like.
