Monster Fit Club: Week 8

Hey there, folks! I hope everyone is doing well. I want to give a special shout out to Shellbomber for writing and posting Monster Fit Club for me last week. Thanks, lady, it was awesome!

Time for the weigh-in:

Last week, I lost 3 lbs, but this week I have stalled with 0 lbs. lost (BOO!). I have a 12 lbs. total loss. I am 8 lbs. away from my 20 lb. goal.

I am not going to lie to you guys. I know why I didn't lose any weight this week. It is because I ate way too much. I had a lot of social eating due to two birthdays and my last week of work at my old job. That's right, I had cake and ALOT of red meat. It was not pretty. So this week, it's time to get that back in control. I am going to set another weekly goal for myself this week of 2 lbs.

I made a Monster Fit Club playlist to share with you guys, and I am currently trying to figure out how to upload it to the Monster Jukebox so you guys can download it. Now, I must warn you, that when it comes to working out, I will let some really offensive songs to enter the playlist, and I don't want to hear any judgements from you guys. You understand?! That being said, they may be cheesy or the worst, but I guarantee that they will motivate you if you give them the chance. Here's what we have:

Bruce Springsteen "Born in the U.S.A."

Britney Spears "Slave 4 U"

Rilo Kiley "Portions for Foxes"

Lawblog "We Monsters"

The Airborne Toxic Event "Gasoline"

The Bing Pink "Dominos"

The Beatles "Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da"

Brandon Flowers "Swallow It"

Coconut Records "Nighttiming"

Cold War Kids "Hang Me Up to Dry"

Destiny's Child "Lose My Breath"

Franz Ferdinand "Take Me Out"

The Go-Go's "We Got the Beat"

Ida Maria "Oh My God"

Julian Casablancas "11th Dimension"

The Killers "All These Things That I've Done"

LCD Soundsystem "Drunk Girls"

Linkin Park "Bleed It Out" (Trust me on this one, you guys)

M.I.A. "Paper Planes"

Mary J. Blige "Family Affair"

Matt & Kim "Good Ol' Fashion Nightmare"

Missy Elliott "Lose Control"

Passion Pit "Sleepyhead"

Pixies "Where Is My Mind?"

Scissor Sisters "Take Your Mama"

Sleigh Bells "Infinity Guitars"

Vampire Weekend "Walcott"

Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Heads Will Roll"

So how did you do this week? Put your comments and suggestions in the comments and let's discuss!

New? Make sure to tell us your goals and motivations. Good luck!

  1. I lost a pound this week. I'm now down 15 whole pounds! Woohoo!

This is the first week where I feel like I can see a difference, which is a great motivator. Ideally, I'd like to lose another 25. My wedding is only five months away. (!!!!!!)

I'm still using the Alli. I haven't shit myself yet, but I have had unpleasant tummy aches followed by unpleasant diarrhea (sorry tmi people) after indulgent meals, even without taking the pill with that particular meal. I guess that's even more incentive to NOT eat crap. I can't be sure it's not just a coincidence yet. It's happened twice in a week. I'll keep you guys updated about future poo related events. You're welcome.

  2. I did pretty decent, because I didn't gain any weight! Last week I went out for social gatherings three times, which resulted in alcoholic intake every single time, plus heavy snacking once. Plus, it didn't help me to get all my work-outs in AND I had a large Italian style family dinner yesterday. With tiramisu (so gooooooood) and lots of pasta. So basically not gaining weight is a great achievement in and of itself, it probably helped I have bulked up somewhat so that I have a higher metabolism.

No excuses for this week, going full-on to still reach my 12 pound goal, which would mean 3.2 lbs. this week. Gonna bump up the work-outs this week and reduce my intake. Clear eyes, full hearts...

  3. Confession Time: I'm a bit ashamed to admit it, but I fell off the fitness wagon a few weeks ago. HARD (hence my absence from the comments). I'm still at the same weight, but I have not made good choices in what foods I eat. I've also been developing a bad habit of not eating all day, then trying to overcompensate for the missed meals at night.

I'm slowly getting back to into healthier eating habits, as well as cutting out more foods (goodbye, delicious cheese). Additionally, I finally pulled out one of my yoga DVDs yesterday and had a good-albeit wobbly-workout. My muscles are so sore, but I'm craving another workout after I finish class today. Here's to hoping my future includes less "trying" and more DOING.

P.S. Great song choices TIMN. I work out to a lot of those songs as well :)

  4. hi guys! i've been a slacker in the comments, but last week i started p90x.. and apparently lot five pounds. unfortunately, it maybe is less than five pounds? my scale is fluctuating second to second.

but yay for committing to something. yay. i've been vaguely following a low carb diet, but i'm mostly just trying to be more aware of things i'm eating.

  5. YAY, Bird! P90X is great! I want to try to start doing it again, depending on my new work schedule. The workouts are pretty long, but I will hopefully have more time on my hands to do them now.

  6. I am 15 lbs down. I still need to start exercising, but at least the diet works.

  7. Not much to report here. I wasn't great at keeping track of my food this week, but have been pretty good with working out. Given that I'm keeping a pretty regular exercise schedule and increasing my muscle mass, I am actually not sure that I will lose much poundage. That's not terribly upsetting to me because the toning in and of itself is pretty darn cool, but I definitely have some more to go over the next few months!
